I really enjoy creating recipes and even more so….eating my creations. It’s one of the main reasons I have to run. Well, food and wine. I have been slowly trying to compile my recipes in an orderly fashion and it is going painstakingly slow. Why? Why is because every time that I go to make something I have successfully made in the past, I do a little something different. Last night I tried so hard to measure out my ingredients and write everything down so I could share my fabulous Shrimp and Grits recipe with everyone today, but sadly I have found my success is lessened when I concentrate on the how. I am not an “exact” type of person. The fun in cooking for me is the fun of chopping and throwing it all in without measuring. This is the main reason I am such a so-so baker. Baking is a science. You must follow the rules of baking, which is not how my mind likes to work. Alas, I still have no recipe for my friends today. The Shrimp and Grits were great, but not as good as the last time. So I will continue tweaking the writing and measuring part of it. For now it is just a mystery. On the bright side, recognizing your weaknesses only makes us stronger and better. So next time I will try harder and hopefully have an even better result. Or maybe I will just have a little wine. In fact, now that I think of it, I think I was drinking a nice Sauvignon Blanc last time and I splashed some in. Hmmmmm.
