Book Club, Blends and Besties

Last night was another great night at the local Cork and Cow. I met with my girls for our monthly book club meeting to discuss our latest book over a couple of bottles of wine and cheese. It was great fun, as usual. As my sister pointed out, it’s about 3 hours of drinking and 1 hour of discussing the book. Works for me.
Our latest book, “The Fault in Our Stars” was a really good book. It’s not my usual choice of book, because I choose not to read sad topics normally. I was worried it might actually make me cry and it almost did. John Green is a great author and the book is by far his best work yet. I give it 4 out of 5 stars. Hehe.
Our favorite cheese monger was working last night and that just made the night even better. Cork and Cow has a plate they call “The Herd” on their menu that consists of a choice of two meats and three cheeses. We got two. I am guessing the extra puffiness under my eyes today has to do with the prosciutto, wine and duck pate that I devoured. It was well worth it.
My favorite wine had still not arrived, but it was a little of a blessing in disguise. I can always trust the owner, Michelle to guide me to a great choice. Last night was a blend, 2010 Mountain Cuvee. The touch of zinfandel hit the spot with all the salty cheese and meats. Love our sommelier!
Anyway, back to reality. I must get to work. And in case you want to join us…We are reading “The Dog Stars” this month. Also, my ibuprofen is starting to work. It’s going to be another great day!

  1. It really was a great book, I’m not a sad book sort of person either, but I really enjoyed it. I’m going to download the Dog Starts tonight!
