I love when a new restaurant opens! Yardbird Kitchen is one of the new restaurants in town and it has been receiving lots of praise. Honestly, it’s been killing me that I had not been over to try it out. They use local farms for their produce and dairy. Yay!
Saturday I was finally able to visit for lunch. I took the hubs with me and we settled in to try it out. Our server, Katie was incredibly friendly and welcoming. We told her it was our first time visiting and she grabbed all of the menus for breakfast and Sunday brunch for us to look at also. She introduced us to the owners daughter who is about 4. The daughter told us that she was just getting back from the farmer’s market where her parents also sell their baked goods. She also showed us the contents of her purse which contained things she had purchased at the farmer’s market. She was most excited about her organic candy. She was adorable.
I went a little bit “old-school” with my lunch selections. I went for a garden salad with Shrimp and grits and then I shared a good, old-fashioned piece of homemade cheesecake with an apricot and ginger puree. It was delicious. I don’t remember the last time I had cheesecake and this one certainly didn’t disappoint. The hubs ordered the “devil dogs” and macaroni and cheese. He said it was the best macaroni and cheese he had ever had to eat. That’s right!
The staff is wonderful. The food is great and uses local farms for their ingredients. The restaurant is super clean and has free wi-fi with a little sitting area for you to enjoy after you eat. They will be expanding their hours soon. Please stop by and support this new restaurant. It will make your taste buds happy and you’ll leave with a smile on your face!
